Flexible robot for the assembly of car engines

Products/Technology

2000.05.01

A flexible robot for use in the assembly of car engines is undergoing development at the regional consortium research development division which implements an integrated development approach using new energy and production technologies in joint collaboration with the Kumamoto University and Tohoku University. The system could support process changes such as insertion of piston in cylinders without the use of jigs, production of multiple product types of engines and other such changes autonomously. The system is intended for application in engine assembly equipment in the future.
